Synopsis Deutsch:
Das war mein allererster Film, ein Exprerimentalfilm aus dem Jahre 1983. Damals hatte ich ein Monstrum von einer Panasonic VHS Kamera, aber noch keinen tragbaren Rekorder, sondern nur einen Standrekorder. Also konnte ich nur zu Hause filmen. Ich probierte viele Kassetten lang mit Rückkoppelungen des Fernsehbildes. So enstand auch meine Technik für diesen Film. Die meisten Szenen sind als Rückkoppelung des Kamerabildes wiederum vom Fernseher abgefilmt. Die Musik kam von Langspielplatte, damals gab es noch keine CDs und ich habe, wie ein Diskjockey die Platte langsamer bzw. schneller mit der Hand gedreht.

Die Idee zur Technik kam mir damals durch den südkoreanischen Video-Künstler namens Nam June Paik, der Videoinstallationen, Videokunst und andere Experimente mit technischen Manipulationen an Bildröhren von Fernsehern machte. Er wird heute als Vater der Videokunst bezeichnet und war zu seinen Lebzeiten Professor für Videokunst an der Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf.

Da Video in der damaligen Amateurfilmszene noch fast unbekannt war und die Leute so was noch nie gesehen hatten, war ich ein Exot. So wurde der Film zuerst auf dem Ostbayerischen und dann dem Gesamtbayerischen Wettbewerb gezeigt. Dort bekam er für mich total überraschend einen 1. Preis. Beim Exprerimentalfilmfestival damals in Karlsruhe bekam ich zwar keinen Preis aber der Film wurde zu den deutschen Amateurfilmfestspielen nach Bayreuth gemeldet, der höchsten Ebene des deutschen nicht-kommerziellen Films. Es war der erste Film auf Video überhaupt, der bei einem solchen Festival lief. Ein Jahr später wurde dieser Film dann zur UNICA Jeunesse nach Argentinien gemeldet und lief anschließend bei vielen internationalen Festivals. Mein erster Film war damals auch bisher mein größter Erfolg bei den Amateurfilmern.

This was my first movie i´ve shot, an video experiment from 1983. At this time, I had a big Panasonic VHS camera, but no portable recorder, only a VHS recorder with powercord. Therefore I could do filmmaking only at home. I tried video feedback by filming the tv what shows the camera picture by filling many cassettes, This way the technique for this picture was born. Most of the scenes in this film are simply video feedback loops by filming the tv showing the filmed tv. The music was taken from LP´s, CD didn´t exist at this time and I tried as a disc jockey to make the music faster or slower by hand.

This whole idea was born, when I saw videoart from the southcorean videoartist Nam June Paik, who did video installations, video art and other experiments with technical manipulations of a tv screen. Today he is called „the father of video art“ and he was during his lifetime professor for videoart at the artacademy in Dusseldorf in Germany.

At this time, video was unknown in the amateurfilm scene and the people there never saw something like this and I was something like „Exotic“. The video was first shown on regional then bavarian amateurfilmfestival and got the totally suprising for me, a gold medal. At the german experimantal movie festival in Karlsruhe, the video won no prize, but was delegated to the german movie festival in Bayreuth, the highest level of amateurfilmfestivals in Germany. One year later, the film was delegated to UNICA the world non-professional movie maker festival in Argentina. Afterwards the video was shown on many international movie festivals. So my first film was my most sucessful film until today.
